The Royal Botanical Gardens!
On Saturday the 22nd of September, I went to the Royal Botanical Gardens with my family. We had our lunch in front of The National Herbarium. I saw a really weird tree that didn’t have any leaves but at the end of its branches, It had moss. I saw some really beautiful flowers and trees. After that we went to the Children’s Garden. It had really nice plants. In the Children’s Garden, they had a Bamboo forest with so many Bamboo. We all went into the bamboo forest. Near to the Bamboo Forest there was a Bamboo house, and I went inside it. It also had a pond which had tadpoles and frogs.
Next we were going to the Canna Red Rain Garden. When we reached there, all the plants were rain forest plants. It was a big walk way and it really looked like a rain forest. When we finished walking through the Canna Red Rain Garden, We went to the Nymphaea Lily Lake. When we got there, We saw heaps of ducks and geese. When I looked into the water, I saw an eel!! It was gigantic and it would put its head above the water frequently. We had a little rest on a bench and we kept going.
On our way, I saw so many flowers and trees. They looked really rare. We walked. And walked. Finally I saw a little house. When I peered inside, It was like a mini Jungle. There was so many plants and flowers on the sides and in the middle, there was an oval full of plants and flowers. It looked so artificial, but I knew it was real. We walked to the car. While we were going back to our house, I thought: If only I had a garden like that one!
INDIA
November 14 arrived.
When we arrived in India we first went to Coimbatore, my mum’s mother’s place. There I met my Uncle and aunty and my two cousins. Both cousins are boys, one is 3 and the other is 4 years old. We stayed at my grandma’s place and visited an apartment, because one of the apartments was my Uncle and my aunt’s apartment. We went shopping and bought clothes for me and my sister. We also went to the cinema and watched two movies. I had lots of fun. We stayed in Coimbatore for 20 days.
Next we went to Bhavani; a little town where my dad’s younger brother’s family lives. In that house there’s my dad’s little brother (my uncle), his wife (my aunty), and their son, (my cousin). This cousin is also a boy, whose 5 years old. We stayed there for two days.
After Bhavani we went to Savandapore, my dad’s father’s place, There lived my dad’s elder brother, his wife and their son. The house had a beautiful lakes view. We also played in the splash pool. We stayed here for 6 days.
Then we went back to Coimbatore and stayed there for a few more days. Then we went back to Savandapore for my sister’s birthday. Everybody came. My aunty in Bhavani came, and her older sister came, with her husband and her two daughters, one 7, the other 9. Then we stayed in Savandapore. In Savandapore I saw a cute puppy, so small standing outside the house! My parents let me take it inside and I had it for a day and let it go. After two days we went back to Coimbatore.
Then we went to Isha, a yoga centre. We booked a cottage and stayed there with my dad’s older brother’s family for 2 days. It had a temple and a swimming pool. We tried them all. It had a cow house full of cows. I touched them. We went back to Savandapore. After that we went to Hasanur with my dad’s younger and older brother’s family, and the younger brother’s wife’s older sister’s family. It was amazing! We stayed there for 4 days. Hasanur is a mountain; it was so scary when driving up! It had 27 bends. We had a camp fire every night. The first day we stayed home dancing and playing games. The second day we went to a monkey forest, we saw so many monkeys and coconut trees! We saw the pepper creepers and how they grow, chilli plants and snake houses. The third day we went to a very dangerous forest, filled with elephants, lions, tigers and snakes! We even found a bone! We went to a farm and saw how everything grows. We saw farm animals and plants. We also saw sprinklers which water plants. On the fourth day we said bye to Hasanur and went back to Savandapore.
We went to Pariyur. There were rides like The Giant Wheel and lots more. There was shopping too! We did everything and went back to Savandapore. We also ate sugar canes. I and my sister went on so many bike rides, each filled with jolly good fun! We went to a lot of big and small temples. They were so unique and so beautiful in so many ways. After that we went to a festival of games for Pongal. Pongal is a festival of India like we have Christmas in Australia, they have this in India. On this festival they make a food called Pongal. This festival goes for three days, Thaii Pongal for the first day, Matu Pongal next, and the third day is Kunam Pongal. So, there were games. I participated and won two prizes. One prize for mime, One person acts and one person has to guess, and the other prize was for lucky number, everyone stands in a circle and someone calls out a number, then they count up to that number. The person they land on is out, like that, the last one standing wins. After the games we went back to Savandapore and stayed there. Then, we went back to Coimbatore and stayed there until we came back to Australia. It was sad to go. But I was Also Glad we went. I couldn’t wait to see my home!
